Hidden Gates PJ Stone Gates Trilogy D T Dyllin 9780985023058 Books

I really enjoyed this book in fact it was one of those unexpected reads. I figured it would be good, but I never thought that it would go the way it did, which was quite a pleasant surprise for my mind that's pretty good at predicting what's going to happen.
PJ is a young high school senior that struggles with her seemingly non-existent seer abilities, while realizing that she loves someone she can never have. This is only the beginning of her problems as the world around her shifts, her seer abilities come blazing to the forefront, and she's bombarded with more male attention than she thought would ever have.
This is definitely a good read for someone who is an adult romance lover looking to bridge the gap and read YA.
I highly recommend this read and hope you will all go and check it out!
I give Hidden Gates FIVE stars!

Hidden Gates Review

**This is Not a Ya book, more like New Adult, or Adult, has many sex scenes in it.**

I really enjoyed this story a lot. I liked the world the author created, even if a bit scary at times, lol. No spoilers in this just so you know. I felt pretty dumb thinking this was a YA, It did start with them in the hall in high school, and usually books with HS kids are YA. But was I in for a huge sexual surprise, lol. I think I have read Adult books with less sex than this one, lol, but it's done in a very tasteful way, no worries, but for sure 18 and up for this one. I totally fell in love with these characters though, and that love of them just grew through the book.
I will say, that I was confused to why all of a sudden P.J. was wanted by all these guys, like she drew them too her. But then the twist comes, and I find out why, but I won't be telling you. Just read it, and wait for it, it will smack you between the eyes. I sure did not see that one coming.

I liked the magical elements to it, with P.J. Being a "seer" but I did not like the restrictions thy forced on the young adults. As its found out early, that P.J and her best friend forever Bryn, are in love, but its forbidden, as he is a "Guardian" and is to be trained to be her Guardian, as all Seer's are to have one. So that part, I just was like, its so unfair, lol. Seer's can only pair up with Gatekeepers or descendants of Seer's (all Seer's are female)

Bryn I liked a lot, in the beginning at least, and once you read the book, you will know what I mean. As some major things change and he is like a different person towards the end. He sounds so gorgeous too, with cerulean blue eyes, and black hair, tall at 6'4 . I also thought the young `Gatekeeper' was sweet, Jeremy, who P.J. was told to date by her mom, she set them up on the arranged type dates. Won't get into all that, would take forever.
I really liked the true passion that was between P.J. and Bryn, it was a love that was built up over their life, since they were 5 years old. No insta-love here, thank goodness.
Now Kohl, wow, what a sexy hunk he is. I am still torn between him and Bryn, by the end of the book, I kindof am starting to lean toward Kohl. I can't say why, as it will give too much away.

I think the character building was great, and so was the world building. The Descriptions of Kohl's place is really well done.

Here is a short teaser of that passion (its clean)

His lips met mine with an undercurrent of electricity. The kiss started out soft and sweet but began to gain momentum quickly. I gasped as his tongue slid in to deftly take control of my mouth. An unfamiliar feeling of liquid heat pooled in my middle, causing a moan to escape from me as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders in an attempt to pull him closer. It was like my body was on fire, and Bryn was the only one who could bring me relief.

And her is another steamy scene

His hands tangled in my hair, and just like the night before, I found myself pushed up against a tree by Bryn. The way he was kissing me was different than before though, he was being more forceful, and there seemed to be an undercurrent of desperation. All my nerve endings felt like they crackled with his energy, and a wave of pure lust slammed into me. "I can't lose you. I just can't," he rumbled into my mouth.

That is just a taste of the kind of passion in this. The only problem I had with this book, is it to me had too much of the sexual stuff, and less of the great magical world, I would rather only 1 -2 sex scenes and the rest all the story. I don't really read books that are just mostly about the sex, just isn't my kind of thing, rather be pulled into a great fantasy story, this only partially does that for me, because just too much goes into the sex.

Except for that, it's a brilliant book for me. I sure was sucked into it, and read in one sitting just about, as it was hard to put down once I got started.
I don't want to say too much more. I do highly recommend this book. People who love lots of sex in their books will be satisfied with this for sure, but there is still enough of the magical fantasy world too to make the rest of us happy.

5 out of 5 stars.

I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review.

I just want to start out by saying that this is a new adult/ paranormal romance, not YA. There is quite a bit of sex in this book, swearing and there is even under aged drinking. So just be prepared that even though this is a story containing an 18 year old, it isn't YA fluff.

I loved the way the book begins with P.J. and her best friend Bryn at school ribbing on each other. They appear to be normal teens but in all actuality, P.J. is a Seer who has premonitions, and Bryn is a Guardian who protects Seers. They have grown up doing everything together and one day Bryn will be P.J's Guardian. Only, one night at a party P.J. realizes her feelings for Bryn are more than just that of a friend and finds out that Bryn has been in love with her for a long time. They decide to hide their relationship since it is forbidden for guardians and seer's to become involved but all good things must come to an end and they are caught red handed getting hot and heavy in the woods by none other than her father.

You would think that the story would just be about forbidden love and the majority of it is. Except Bryn gets shipped away and P.J. starts having some crazy premonitions that no one seems to believe are real. Not to mention that a guy named Khol comes into the picture and drops a pretty big drama bomb on P.J. (Sorry, no spoilers) So not only does P.J. have to come to terms with her new found identity and not having Bryn but she also has to figure out how to stop these alien things from over taking the world.

I loved the term "Aram Cara", which means soul mate. I must admit that I hate the term "soul-mate" and it seems that authors are way too quick to throw that in their stories. I was happy that the author came up with a term that fit PJ's world perfectly while still conveying that once bonded, there was no going back.

A lot goes on in this book and with being the first in a trilogy, stuff goes unanswered. So it pretty much sets you up for the next two books and I personally cannot wait to read more. D.T. has a great way of creating a story that keeps the readers interested without losing focus. I personally loved the romance aspect since I am a big romance junkie myself. But I loved the craziness when it comes to not only the aliens but what P.J actually is, and I don't mean just a Seer. I cannot wait for book number 2 to come out.
